Three Invitations for Lent
Prayer
We are launching 3 initiatives for Easter. The first is to dive deep in Prayer over the Lent season. We are called to abide in the presence of Christ (John 15). The new Prayer Room is officially opening on Ash Wednesday and will be available from 5a - 11p every day. We are also having another week of 24/7 Prayer during Holy Week.
We invite you during this season to visit the prayer room once a week. See below for instructions on signing up and getting the access code.
Fasting
The second initiative is an Easter Fast - During the season of Lent the church historically practiced fasting. This is a time to empty ourselves so we may experience more of God. So on Thursdays during the season of Lent we want to invite you to a sun up to sun down fast. We will also have a church wide fast on Maundy Thursday.
Offering
The third initiative is an Easter Offering for our Children’s Expansion Project. We have broken ground and are looking for the construction project to be done by Fall 2025. Fundraising has been solid but we are still $750,000 short of our goal. The Easter Offering would be a sacred gift to this project. In 2 Samuel 24, King David is building an altar to the Lord and famously says, “I will not sacrifice to the Lord my burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” God moves in the land on David’s behalf, honoring his sacrificial gift. For Easter, we want to invite you to a sacrificial gift, or if you haven’t made a pledge yet, to do so.
What is lent?
The season of Lent began in the early days of the Church as a time of preparation for those seeking to be baptized at the Easter Vigil. The forty days refer to our Lord’s time of fasting in the wilderness; and since Sundays are never fast days, Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the Lenten Fast.
Prayer Room
Step 1: How Do I get the access code?
You can request to gain code access HERE. Once approved, you will receive an email with the code. Please do not share this code with anyone. The code will be updated quarterly.
Step 2: How do I sign up for a slot?
Sign up for an hour slot HERE. Slots are 1 hour long and can be booked up to two weeks out. During this hour you will have the room to yourself, please respect the time of others and only visit when you have an appointment.
