baptism
Baptism is the beginning of a lifelong relationship with the living Christ. In baptism we are united to Christ in both his life and death. If you are a follower of Jesus and have never been baptized we invite you to take this momentous step of faith.
Before you enter the waters of baptism, we encourage you to attend a Baptism Class. In the class we discuss what baptism is and what a life following Jesus requires.
On the day of your baptism we encourage you to invite family and friends to witness this beautiful act of God moving in your life.
Baptism is just the beginning of a lifelong relationship with the living God. Following Jesus requires that we give up our selfish habits of sin and turn to Him for our life and forgiveness daily. Being a disciple or apprentice of Jesus also means that we engage in new practices of community, scripture, prayer, service, and more. formation
Inspired by the Practicing the Way course and curriculums, a "Rule of Life" is a set of spiritual rhythms throughout our days and weeks that help encourage spiritual growth. At Desert City, our rhythms include our weekly Sunday morning gatherings, weekly/biweekly small groups, prayer, and reading Scripture. By spending time in each of these areas, our hope is to grow deeper in our love and understanding of God and others.
Prayer is simply the medium through which we communicate and commune with God. The practice of prayer is learning to set aside dedicated time to intentionally be with God, in order to become like him and partner with him in the world. - Practicing the Way, Prayer Course.
If you don't already have one, we recommend starting a daily habit of prayer.
Scripture is foundational to our relationship with Jesus. Through scripture we become aware of who God is, who we are in relation to him, and how we are to follow Jesus.
We are not meant to walk this life alone. Being a part of a community where your relationship with God is strengthened and your compassion and empathy for others is expanded is vital to our overall spiritual health. Desert City has so many different ways of connecting deeper in community, whether that's through a small group, Bible study, MomCo, or Sunday mornings, we desire for you to find a community that "stirs up one another to love and good works" (Hebrews 10:24-25).

membership
The church is a different type of community, sacred and sacrificial- at Desert City, being a member means going from being a consumer to becoming a provider of God’s love and care to others. As a member, you take responsibility for being a contributing part of the church family (1 Corinthians 12). You are connected to the people and mission of the church. It assumes you desire to grow in Christ and serve in some way. By going through the steps of membership, you are stating your desire to give your time, talent and treasure to further the Kingdom of God through Desert City Church.

We want to meet with you! Our desire truly is to have relationships with the people who call Desert City their home church. One of our staff/board members will reach out to connect with you and your family to continue the process of growing in connection with one another and furthering you along the process towards officially becoming a member.

Our volunteers across all of our different ministries are truly what make Desert City special. Our hope is that people are serving in areas that align with their gifts, talents, and passion. We do this through building relationships and encouraging people to be involved in the community- by attending on Sunday mornings and participating in groups/bible studies.
